Heritage in the Community – A History of England in 100 Places

Historic places across the country have shaped who we are, they bring our history to life and really tell the story of where we have come from as a nation.

With help from the general public, Historic England have been collecting and uncovering the top 100 places that tell the remarkable story of England and it’s impact on the world. Focusing on 10 different categories, each judged by an expert from thousands of nominations, a list has been formed of 100 places that have helped in making England what it is today.

Not only do we have this in interactive map form, but the clever folk at Historic England are even offering this as a beautifully illustrated book! They haven’t stopped there either; a podcast series has also been produced to cover each of the 100 sites, which as a country we deem as irreplaceable.

Take a look for yourself here – Irreplaceable: A History of England in 100 Places.
